Why Games in New York? NYC is known as a hub both for international business and the social change sector including the UN. For games, NYC is emerging as a as a hub for games and social change -- a strategy which brings together the fields of informal learning, global peace diplomacy, and national/grassroots politics.
The festival takes place at Parsons The New School for Design in Greenwich Village in Manhattan. It is accessible via several modes of transportation: MTA bus, MTA subway, or car/taxi.
The subway is the most efficient way to move about NYC. It is clean, modern, and safe although its popularity among locals can make it quite crowded at times.
Entry into the subway requires a “Metrocard”. It cost just $2.25 per ride no matter how far one travels. There are also “unlimited ride” passes that can be purchased for a day or even for multiple days. Every subway station contains electronic machines that dispense these cards. All forms of payment are accepted: cash, credit card, or ATM cards. Metrocards work equally on both buses and subways and the costs are the same.
The MTA website contains lots of useful information. It can be accessed at http://www.mta.info
