Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna)
Synopsis
Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna) is a atmospheric puzzle platformer that explores the cultural folklore of the Iñupiat Native Alaskan people. It is the first game developed in collaboration with the Cook Inlet Tribal Council, an Alaskan Native people and nearly 40 Alaska Native elders, storytellers and community members contributed to the development of the game.
Players take on the roles of a young Iñupiat girl named Nuna and her arctic fox companion as they set out to find the source of an endless blizzard that threatens the survival of everything she has ever known. Grounded in the core traditional Iñupiaq values of interdependence and resilience, Nuna and the fox must work together to overcome the obstacles presented in each puzzle and move forward (or level-up) in their mission. Guide both characters in single-player mode or play cooperatively with another person as the duo treks through frozen tundra, leaps across treacherous ice floes, swim through underwater ice caverns, and face many enemies. Along the way you unlock ‘cultural insights,’ short documentary-style video clips that tell the stories and experiences of the Iñupiaq people.
