The G4C Student Challenge is a citywide competition that encourages Atlanta students to create games about issues impacting their communities. Winning games are celebrated at an awards ceremony where students receive game prizes, technology mentorships and more!
ATLANTA students are invited to create digital games about Connected Cities. Access the theme page and dive into a library of multimedia, information and resources relating to the theme topic.
SELECTION OF TEACHERS
20 teachers selected for program. Teachers will be notified early 2018.
TEACHER TRAINING & CHALLENGE LAUNCH
Teachers receive two days of training on January 25 – 26, 2018. 10-week game design courses launch in schools.
Students have two months to submit their games until the deadline of April 30, 2018
Local game jams take place each month to further engage students around game design and the Connected Cities theme. Check the events page for the most up-to-date information.
Submission portal closes on April 30, 2018. Student games are evaluated by an expert jury on gameplay, creativity, and content.

24 teachers from 20 schools in Atlanta and the greater metro area received training on how to run game design courses in their classrooms and, using Mouse’s Serious Game Design curriculum, students are creating games that address community-focused themes using tools such as Scratch, Gamestar Mechanic and Unity. All middle/high public school students in Atlanta and the greater metro area are invited to submit original games about the ‘Connected Cities’ theme to the 2018 Student Challenge competition (Deadline to submit is April 30th).
