THE GAMES FOR CHANGE CHALLENGE INVITES STUDENTS IN PITTSBURGH TO MAKE VIDEO GAMES ABOUT REAL-WORLD ISSUES IMPACTING OUR COMMUNITIES.

The G4C Student Challenge is a citywide competition that encourages Pittsburgh students to create games about issues impacting their communities. Winning games are celebrated at an awards ceremony where students receive game prizes, technology mentorships and more!

2018 STUDENT CHALLENGE THEMES IN PITTSBURGH

PITTSBURGH students are invited to create digital games about three Student Challenge themes: News Literacy, Kindness & Empathy and Wildlife Conservation: Pollinators. Select a topic to access the theme page and dive into a library of multimedia, information and resources relating to the theme topic.

Local game jams take place each month to further engage students around game design and this year’s three themes. Check the events page for the most up-to-date information.

FEBRUARY 2018

SUBMISSION PORTAL OPENS

Students have two months to submit their games until the deadline of May 21st, 2018 @ 11:59 PM ET.

MAY 2018

CHALLENGE DEADLINE & JURY PROCESS

Submission portal closes on May 21st, 2018 @ 11:59 PM ET. Student games are evaluated by an expert jury on gameplay, creativity, and content.

JUNE 2018

AWARDS CEREMONY & PRIZES

Prizes awarded to winning students at ceremony and public arcade of students’ games in Pittsburgh.
